Abstract

The formation of mutual respect and cooperation in early childhood is important because the future of early childhood is a basic stage of social character development. However, technological developments and the increasing use of gadgets cause children's social interactions to tend to decline, so learning strategies that can improve children's social skills are needed. This study aims to determine the role of group play in forming mutual respect and cooperation in early childhood and explain how social interactions are formed through joint play activities. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques are carried out through literature studies from various journals, books, and relevant research results regarding the social development of early childhood and group play. Data are analyzed descriptively to understand the process of forming children's social behavior through group play. The results of the study show that group play is effective in improving cooperation, tolerance, empathy, communication, and respect for peers. Children learn to share, obey rules, solve problems together, and build positive social relationships. This study concludes that group play can be an effective learning strategy in the formation of social character in early childhood.
