Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has greatly influenced the lives of students, especially in the use of online games. Excessive online gaming among students can lead to addiction and affect their moral behavior, discipline, social interaction, and learning achievement. This study aims to analyze the forms of online games played by students, the role of teachers and parents in overcoming online game addiction, and the impact of online game addiction on the morals of students in Class IX A at SMPN 3 Sambas. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers, parents, and students. The data analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was tested through triangulation and member checking. The findings indicate that the most frequently played online games among students are Mobile Legends, Free Fire, PUBG Mobile, and e-Football. Teachers and parents play important roles in addressing students’ online game addiction through supervision, guidance, restrictions on gadget usage, and religious approaches. Online game addiction negatively affects students’ morals, including decreased discipline, the habit of using harsh language, reduced respect toward parents and teachers, neglect of worship obligations, and declining academic performance. Therefore, collaboration between schools and parents is essential in guiding students to use technology wisely and positively.
